As we celebrate our 10th anniversary, we want to extend our deepest thanks to everyone who has been part of Futurety’s journey—our incredible team members, clients, partners, and friends. You’ve been with us through it all, and we couldn’t have made it this far without you.
Starting a business is no small feat. Statistics show that most new ventures either stall out or fail. In fact, only about 4% of businesses ever make it to a million dollars in revenue and a team of 10. And yet, here we are, ten years later, with a vibrant team, a thriving client base, and a name that has come to stand for excellence in data-driven digital marketing.
The Early Days: A Simple Start with Big Ambitions
Our story begins in November of 2014, with no clients, no revenue, and just a simple office space rented for $600 a month. Futurety was an intentionally ambiguous name because, frankly, we weren’t entirely sure what we would become. We started with just a logo designed by a friend and a lot of networking.
Back then, our “strategy” was simple: meet with as many people as possible and ask one straightforward question—“What problem would you pay me to solve for you today?” It wasn’t a business school approach, but it worked. Those first contracts were a mixed bag: I MC’d a company holiday party, trained sales teams, and even tried to commercialize a heart health device (and failed). It wasn’t glamorous, but every project gave us another foothold.
Building a Team and Gaining Momentum
One of our first big breaks came when Bill was hired to build the marketing team for the largest arts network in the world. In that role, he worked alongside two of the finest entrepreneurs and human beings he has ever known.
By 2017, we had enough work to hire our first full-time team members, Sam and Louis John, who are still with us today in leadership roles. Futurety wouldn’t be what it is without them. Around the same time, a friend approached us with a major data visualization project. We’d done similar work before, but nothing on this scale. That project gave us a clear value proposition and a chance to demonstrate what we were capable of.
We whiteboard some crazy things: concepts for a wearable bionic suit, a streaming service for pets, even a rehydration drink for dogs. And yes, we actually came up with “Door Ash,” an Uber-like service for Ash Wednesday.
Growing into Our Own Space and Expanding Our Expertise
As we grew, so did our workspace needs. We moved into a 12,000-square-foot building, turning part of it into a co-working space that sold out right away. We learned how to be landlords and continued expanding, gradually taking over more of the building as the team grew.
During COVID, we supported public health and hospital systems with data and messaging. While many were working from home, we kept the heart of our culture alive by slowly coming back together, with a strong focus on helping one another and our clients navigate unprecedented challenges.
Reaching New Heights with Automation, Efficiency, and HUCKLE
By 2022, we hit a new stride. Our team was fully staffed, supported by cutting-edge automation, and equipped to serve regulated industries that required high-security standards. This capability expanded our reach nationally and internationally, allowing us to manage sensitive client data and deliver results few competitors could.
Around this time, we also launched HUCKLE, our consumer data on-demand platform. Originally an internal tool, it quickly evolved into a separate, thriving entity, supporting even more of our clients’ needs.
Today: Recognized, Growing, and Ready for the Future
Today, Futurety stands as a testament to what can happen when resilience, innovation, and great people come together. We’ve been recognized as one of the Best Places to Work, ranked among the fastest-growing companies in the U.S., and we’ve earned a reputation as a top agency in our city. Over the last three years, we’ve grown our revenue by an average of 298% annually, and our client and team retention rates are industry-leading.
Through it all, we’ve built a close-knit culture where work and friendships blend, extending beyond the walls of the office to include clients and partners alike.
Here’s to the Next Decade!
Thank you, sincerely, for helping us build Futurety. Here’s to the next chapter and to making our next ten years even better than the first. Cheers!
